New Folk Forest Pieces, 'We Love Wight' & Sherlock Holmes!!

Our Christmas grotto/workshop has been in full swing this season. We're busier than ever making beautful one-off pieces for our lovely customers. We're sorry to say that our 'commission gates' are now fully closed (with the exception of Pieces of Eight bangles and pendants) and we're no longer taking any more orders  this side of Christmas. But do not fret,  I've been designing and making some brand new 'off the peg' collections currently in the shop with more on the way!.

Here are some of our faves..

The latest pieces to add to my 'Folk Forest' 10 year anniversary collection....

Birds Nests....
I've always been fascinated by the intricacy of birds nest and their hidden secret eggs in beautiful hues.. These little pieces have been constructed with hair fine silver threads, which have been curved and laid piece by piece to shape their 'spun-like' forms.
Left: Oxidised silver with 9ct gold eggs. Right: Silver set with Yellow Sapphire.
Left:Oxidised silver set with Moss Agate. Right: Silver set with Turquoise.

Robin
Staying on the bird theme, I was commissioned by a lady from Australia to make this little brooch/pendant for her Robin loving sister.

Pierced oxidised silver with granulation,  set with Garnet.

Sherlock Holmes
This next commission was probably one of my most challenging!. I met a lovely lady back in the summer who is the founder of award winning Sherlockology.com, a fansite billed as "the ultimate guide for any BBC Sherlock fan". They have a huge following (one million site hits a month!) and as they're the only site with the BBC's blessing, boast direct access to the show's cast and crew members.

So you can imagine how honored I was to be asked to make three "221B Baker Street" door pendants to mark the site's  three year anniversary (for those not in the know, Sherlock's home address!).
I used a mix of hand piercing and over-lay techniques to create the little sculptures, detailing the numbers, letter boxes, door knockers and locks in solid 9ct gold... A very difficult yet hugely satisfying job. Watch this space for an exciting Honeybourne Jewellery/Sherlockology collaboration early next year (very hush hush for now!!!)

Old Jewellery makeover
As my regular readers will know, I can re-create pieces from old or inherited gold and stones. Below is a before and after shot of what's possible..
before: an old earring and diamond pendant
After: Silver band with textured gold pod melted down from the earring. The diamond was removed from original setting, cleaned up and set in the middle of the pod bringing new life to it. She loved it!.

And finally.....
 We Love Wight!!
We found a little hand made cabinet in a charity shop which fitted in to our (small but perfectly formed!) shop beautifully. We gave it a little Honeybourne Jewellery spruce up and commissioned some of our fave Isle of Wight Jewellers to make us some special Christmas stock...

Introducing....

 Leela Rye..
Leela's hand pierced brushed silver pieces delicately capture spring scenes of tulips and grasses, kept modern within a square format.

Kat Ball..
Fashion trained Kat (who sometimes teams up with Leela as 'Leela and the Kat'), hand embroiders these intricate pieces of art encased in miniature wooden frames. She captures woodland and natural themes so beautifully within her brooches, necklaces and earrings

Jodie Dibbens..
Theodosia's very own in-house designer and Birmingham University trained Jodie, has made us a stunning collection of her flora and fauna inspired pieces in solid silver.

Well, back to the workbench!!

Our opening hours are Mon-Sat 10-5
As usual, please phone ahead if you want to speak with me.
