What an incredible year 2013 was for our little shop and ever growing business. Regular clients snapped up our 10 year anniversary Ltd edition Forest Folk Charms (more to come on that front!). My Wedding and special bespoke commission's box was full to the brim all year round. New customer's, friends and connections were made thanks to a gloriously long summer season in our beautiful home town of Ventnor. Web giants, Not on the High Street featured our personalised silver bookmarks in their Christmas Gift Guide, creating orders in their hundreds and our return to Dazzle's Edinburgh, Manchester and London exhibition's equaled the success of the heady days before the recession.....
Not to blow our own trumpet but needless to say we've been blissfully busy!!
Here are just a few of my fave festive commissions..
Bangles and Bracelets
Bangles have a timeless quality to them. These examples show how they can be personalised to suit any occasion..
9ct Gold Bangle
Having proposed to his then girlfriend whilst holidaying in Ventnor, a lovely couple bought a gold heart neckpiece to mark the occasion whilst we worked together to design and make her engagement ring, then later, wedding bands. Two years on, I was asked to make the matching 9ct bangle as a surprise gift for his wife.
This three bangle stack carries beautiful quotes personal to the wearer. Can have a maximum of 40-50 characters.
Latitude and Longitude Bracelet
This was had a really sentimental touch. The stamped inscription was the exact location of the church where the couple were married. Shaped solid silver with leather.
A lovely customer wanted to have a special bracelet made for her mum as her beloved horse had sadly passed away. She had plaited the hair, incorporating hair from her mum's two other horses and I set about designing a suitable piece. I stamped the 3 chunky solid silver cuffs with the horses names, the middle cuff flows freely.
18th Birthday Pendant
Having seen our handpeirced IOW pendants, a lady ordered this silver Fuertaventura to go with one of our Rex's Pieces of Eight, stamped with 18 for her son's birthday.
This piece was ordered for a very chic young lady by her boyfriend. He told me that she "doesn't really do jewellery", no pressure then!. The anchor design reflected his tattoo, the Piece of Eight had the couple's names stamped, both pieces were hung on a long Barley Corn chain. I'm told she loved it (phew!).
Hungry Caterpillar Pin
A lady brought in this cute but very clever little pin. She wanted 3 made in silver to give to her daughter and granddaughter's as special keepsake gifts. She asked for them to be less twee and little more grown-up.
The final 3. Chunky, oxidised solid silver.
Honeybourne Jewellery Make-over
As our regular customer's know, we love to use inherited stones and gold to make new pieces with our signature twist . Below is a recent example.
Having discussing the pieces she had seen and liked on my Blog, I made the above mock-up in silver set with London Blue Topaz and Green Amethyst. Having tried on the piece the customer decided that although she loved the design, it was a little too chunky for her taste, so I made the final piece slightly finer. This perfectly highlights why the mock-up process is so great as it irons out any early issues, making the final piece as perfect as possible.
Solid silver, set with Ruby and Diamonds and studded with gold beads from the original ring.
Our lovely regular customer's wanted a special neckpiece to give to their professional Lacrosse playing daughter. The piece is made from tiny Lacrosse sticks in solid silver.
Rainbow Moonstones were set in 18ct gold at the front of the piece.
Om Symbol Keyring
A slight different twist to our usual silver keyrings, this piece is made from two layers, the top layer has the pierced symbol. The piece is oxidised to show the detail.
